Are non-standard Minors a common thing? A friend’s parents had one with a Nissan engine

I hadn’t thought so and the ones I see are usually bog standard, but evidently they’re out there. I’m guessing mechanical mods too as the exhaust didn’t look as it left the factory.

It says to me that maybe it was easier to keep it running by swapping out some bits for more available parts , rather than trying to source originals.

In Oz? Yes...many were later fitted with Toyota or Datsun engines & gearboxes from RWD Corolla and 1000 models respectively. I’ve also seen a couple with the Holden 253 V8 in there somehow. And I remember talk back in the 90s of one being rebuilt and potentially powered by a Rover V8 taken from a Triumph TR7 race car...

The parts support for the Minor is astonishingly good, you can almost build an entirely new one from scratch just from off the shelf repop components.

From the outside anyway, those seats look like they’re a bit bulky for the interior size.

I imagine this depends on where you live. This one was in Australia, I don’t think they were super popular here
